Business Description
The PEI Literacy Alliance was founded in 1990 and is governed by a Board of Directors. Our membership is a network of diverse community organizations with an interest in creating a culture of literacy and learning in Prince Edward Island. We work toward advancing literacy and essential skills for all Islanders.
We promote literacy and essential skills in the home, community and workplace Island-wide. We raise awareness of the issues and impacts of literacy and essential skills on individuals and our Island as a whole through partnerships, presentations, events, workshops, media relations and social media.
We support professionals in the literacy field through presentations and workshops that support educators, counsellors, health professionals, and employers. We conduct research and work with our local government to identify gaps in literacy services. We also offer plain language and clear design editing services.
We deliver programs that support adult learners, families, and children so they can improve their literacy and essential skills and increase their opportunities.
