Effective Business Leadership Advancement

Effective Business Leadership Advancement (EBLA) for Women in Rural PEI is a high-level leadership and business education program, designed for women in rural PEI.

The program involves six workshops offered concurrently in both western and eastern PEI, starting in September 2019 and running through November 2019. The sessions will cover a range of topics, including leadership communication, successful negotiations, developing self-awareness, and women on boards.

The program is open to any woman living in rural PEI. Please apply by sending an updated resume and a personal statement, no more than 250 words, explaining your motivation for applying to the Effective Leadership Advancement for Women in Rural PEI to office@peibwa.org. Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply?

The leadership program is open to any woman who lives in rural PEI. If you live in Charlottetown, Cornwall, Stratford or Summerside, unfortunately you are not eligible. You do not need to be a member of PEI Business Women’s Association to apply. Applicants who are employed or self-employed will be given precedent.

How do I apply?

Please apply by sending an updated resume and a personal statement, no more than 250 words, explaining your motivation for applying to the Effective Leadership Advancement for Women in Rural PEI to office@peibwa.org by August 28, 2019. You can mention a current challenge that you are facing at your work or business or what behaviours you believe are important in a leader. We will need proof of your address which could be a bill statement or a photocopy of your driver’s license.

Who is reviewing the application?

There is a selection committee that will review the application. Members are selected based on industry experience and knowledge. Your personal statement and resume should provide the committee with all of the necessary information.

Are there any requirements to be accepted?

The applicant must be a woman living in rural PEI and have the time to commit to all six workshops.

Are there any costs to the Leadership program?

There is a $50 fee for the Leadership program that is non-refundable.

Where will the program be offered?

There will be two groups of women, one for women living in the west part of the Island and the other for women who live in the east part of the Island. The locations for the western sessions are in Alberton, Tyne Valley and Central Bedeque. The locations for the eastern sessions are Souris, Morell and Montague.

When will the program begin?

We will begin in September 2019 and have the last session at the end of November. The sessions will be offered every two weeks. There are six sessions of approximately three hours each.

What happens if my application is successful?

You will be notified by the PEI Business Women’s Association. Then you will receive a syllabus of the different topics for the six sessions. The first sessions will be held the second week of September with further dates to be announced. When the sixth session is completed, each participant will receive a certification of completion at a closing ceremony.

What happens if my application is not successful?

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.

Final notes

All applications will remain confidential and on file at PEIBWA for future reference. The information provided will not be shared with external parties without your permission.
