PEIBWA is hiring: Project Coordinator, Atlantic Canadian Women in Business Growth Partnership *Reposted*

The PEI Business Women’s Association is part of an exciting new initiative with the other three women in business centres in Atlantic Canada. Together, we will share best practices and develop new programs to ensure woman-owned businesses in years one-to-five scale up and consider exporting. We will also deliver new programs to ensure currently underserved women in the trades, technology and STEM fields, as well as Indigneous women, newcomers, women with disabilities, and women in rural areas have the support, training, and mentorship they need to succeed. 

PEIBWA is seeking a professional and entrepreneurial team player to serve as the Project Coordinator for this new initiative. This position reports to the Executive Director Margaret Magner and is funded until 2023. 

Education and Experience

  • Degree in business administration or a relevant field of study from a recognized university. An MBA degree is an asset. 

  • At least five years of increasingly more responsible experience managing a business. 

  • Experience in the promotion and marketing of business support programs to the community.

  • Experience in working with economic development concepts, programs and networks, preferably in Atlantic Canada.

  • Experience in mentoring and entrepreneurship counselling.

  • Facilitation and workshop skills, including experience sourcing, organizing and contracting presenters, driving customized content from needs assessment. 

  • Experience in managing resources. 

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of global markets, and the region's business environment, economic challenges and opportunities, and their impact on economic growth.

  • Knowledge of the challenges experienced by women business owners and professionals, including those in underserved groups.

  • Recruit female entrepreneurs and women business owners who are export interested.

  • Promote principles and practices related to business management, market and financial analysis, supplier diversity, and exporting.

  • Deliver business advising on financial management, sales and revenue growth, marketing, leadership, human resources development and other business functions based on the client’s needs.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate networking opportunities, workshops, and growth programs for women business owners and professionals.

  • Match participants with experienced business owners/leaders for additional mentoring and support in early stages of business. 

  • Collect and document business growth metrics and client notes from each participant for ongoing follow-up and client success tracking.

  • Build coalitions amongst internal stakeholders, including other women in business centres in Atlantic Canada..

  • Liaise with external partners to collaborate on program development and delivery for women entrepreneurs.

  • Identify and respond to the business needs of PEIBWA members and grow membership.

  • Identify, analyze and resolve complex issues.

  • Work in a self-directed environment, take initiative, and represent the organization professionally..

  • Get along with supervisors and co-workers, respect the leadership of the organization, work harmoniously as part of a team, and deal effectively with situations that involve attitudes, opinions and feelings of others. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; essential computer skills for word processing, maintaining client records, preparing presentations and producing handout materials.

  • Media and public relations experience; understanding of social media marketing, platforms and strategies.

  • Bilingualism (an asset).

This position will be based in the Charlottetown office, but will coordinate the program across the province. The Coordinator will be expected to travel throughout the province and outside the province at times and extended hours of work may be required. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director.
