Maritime Electric is taking steps to increase awareness of opportunities available for women to pursue a career as a Power Line Technician (PLT).

Join us on Friday, May 28 from 10:00 - 11:00 am for Powering Opportunities for Women to learn more about Maritime Electric and pursuing a career in the utility industry as a PLT.

Our guest will be Maureen Mix, Human Resources Manager of Maritime Electric and an experienced HR professional in multinational technical organizations including the aerospace, bioscience and utility industries. As part of the Maritime Electric senior management team, Maureen is committed to focusing an inclusive and diverse workforce for all the employees on PEI.

Maritime Electric participated in the development of the Canadian Electricity Association guidelines on Advancing Women in Skilled Trades, which was released on March 8. These guidelines provide utility best practices on attracting and retaining women in skilled trades in Canada who are currently vastly still underrepresented.

NOTE: Registration is required to attend. This session will be offered both in person at PEIBWA's Rural Women's Business Centre in Central Bedeque and virtually. Health and safety protocols including social distancing are in place at the Rural Women's Business Centre. If you are joining us virtually, you will be provided with a Zoom meeting link once you complete your online registration.

Conversation Corner began as a small gathering around the kitchen table at our Rural Women's Business Centre in Central Bedeque in November 2019 and continues as an informal and informative platform for women in business to learn and share.

Do you have a business or workplace topic on your mind that you would like to discuss? Do you have a story to share? If you would like to be a guest on a future edition of Conversation Corner, please connect with Shelley Jessop, Manager, Rural Women's Business Centre at shelley@peibwa.org.
